The keynote speaker will be Eldad Shovat, who is a social worker and director of the Israeli Immigration Center located just 2 miles from Gaza. On the morning of Oct 7th, after he found out that Palestinian terrorists were attacking Israel, he realized that the 630 new immigrants at the Center were defenseless.  Eldad then kissed his wife and small children goodbye, told her to lock the doors and windows and stay in the safe room, and then he drove across fields and side roads to get to the Center.  Carrying only a pistol, he knew he was virtually the only line of defense for the immigrants.  Within 36 hours, all the immigrants were evacuated under rocket and gunfire, and Eldad was able to be reunited with his family. Eldad is one of Israel’s unsung heroes.
